I was a Hillary girl. I wanted her to be the first woman president of the United States. Alas, that did not happen. But, in the meantime I have come to be very very proud of this moment in the history of ourcountry. We are about to elect the first black president of this country. This is without precedent. The only thing it could be likened to was the election of the first Catholic president, John F. Kennedy. But, this is so much larger.  Not only are we electing a black man. We are electing a black man with an African name!!! Parenthetically, to all you yahoos who called him a dirty foreigner and made out that he was not born in the United States,  he is a black man without a slave name! To all you racists who lie to yourself and say that it isn’t about his race…IT IS! You are so ignorant that you do not realize that the vast majority of the blacks in this country inherited their surnames from their slave masters! They HAD African names before that!

I am proud to vote for the first black president of the United States. And, while that is no reason alone to elect him (anymore than I would vote for Palin because she would be the first woman national VP) it does add a sweet incentive. In years to come I will be able to say that YES, I voted for the first black president of the United States.

There is another great bonus here. That is how the world will need to adjust their view of our country and people. The dumb Americans. Well, we aren’t so dumb after all. We have done something the world never expected of us. We elected a black man as the president of our country.

That is the kind of thing that will bring respect (even if grudging) from corners of the world that had very little for us. We somehow got past race on this great day in history. The future is ours. We have turned a corner. We are ready, with a leader who may become one of the greatest presidents this country has ever had.

I am so proud to be an American right now, I could burst. wow…………………………
